Lately I've been getting a lot of spammer traffic on my Guestbook page. Don't let that stop you from posting a note - I occasionally go through there and delet all the crap, and leave the notes from users. While you're at it, laugh with me at the idiots who do this spamming - none of their links work, because I've listed "http" as a bad word, so it's blocked. Not that it would matter, 'cause the search engine crawlers that they're trying to influence never make it to my Guestbook page - they're blocked by the sites 'robot' rules. :-)

OK, I have a confession to make. I have been neglecting my personal writing, and this website, for quite some time now. This has been partly due to some real world events including moving to a new house. However, I have to admit that the primary reason for this distraction is that I started writing with the Battlestar Libra writer's group, a collaborative fan fiction epic currently based on BattlestarCentral.com. Writing with the Libra group has been a great experience, and has helped me develop my skills and get back on track with my personal efforts. At the same time, though, I have to confess I've been putting a great deal of time into that project, and as a result a number of my personal works have been delayed. Going forward, I hope to balance my work with the Libra team, and my personal projects, so that both can move forward.
I didn’t think to post this after the latest server failure, but the loss of data from that event caused me to lose all the old e-mail that was archived on the rangerlord.net mail server. As a result, I've lost contact information for a lot of people, including some folks who were offering to provide help on the site, such as beta-reading. Iif you haven't heard from me in a while, this is probably why! So, drop me an e-mail, write a story review, or leave a guestbook entry, and lets get back in touch!
Server problems again! After suffering a software exploit attack, my hosting company was forced to replace the server where rangerlord.net was located. I have restored the majority of the site from manual backups, but data such as story comments and guestbook entries were in MySQL databases on the server and have been lost due to the attack.

While conducting some basic site maintenance today, I discovered that the links to both Ragnar Anchorage and FanFiction.Net were broken due to structure or address changes made by those sites. Both of those links were repaired and should be working correctly now. If you find any broken links here on RangerLord.Net, please use the e-mail link at the bottom of this screen to report them. Your help is always appreciated.
The last two months have found me with very little time left for writing. What writing I have done has mostly been limited to challenge work, basically because such work can generally be finished in a single session. One of those pieces was done for Week #5 of Science Fiction Buzz's Stargate Atlantis Challenge, and I'm pleased to report that it won top honors. I have not decided yet whether to post it here, since it is not a BSG piece.
The applications that were missing after the server problem are back up - the Guestbook is working once more. Evidently, though, the trouble ticket was addressed by a wholesale re-installation of the site, because all the work I did the last two days has been wiped out.
The site is still recovering from a server crash on September 1st. For now, the Guestbook is unavailable. I hope that's the only thing down on the users' side, but I'm still checking.
